Applications for sheltered housing may be made directly to CHADD or through Dudley MBC Choice Based Lettings system – called Dudley at Home.

CHADD sheltered housing is for anyone  aged over 60 and identified as being in need of housing and support for one or more of the following reasons :-

o Living in accommodation let on a non secure tenure or temporary basis.

o Living in unsanitary or overcrowded housing or otherwise living in unsatisfactory housing conditions.

o Household consisting of or including someone with a particular need for accommodation on medical or welfare grounds.

o Households whose social or economic circumstances are such that they have difficulty in securing or maintaining accommodation.

o Households where the present accommodation is too large for their needs.

o Where applicants are owners of property they must agree to make arrangements for its disposal within 6 months of taking up residence.

o Applicants should be able to pay their rent for the property with the aid of benefits as appropriate.

On taking up an offer of accommodation, applicants must be able to live independently or be able to maintain their tenancy with the assistance of a care package.
